I know a lot of people don't like it, but I don't particularly care about that. Call this a guilty pleasure, or something I just get/don't get that other people don't/get, I don't know. All I know is I love this movie so much that the first time I bought it on dvd, I watched it so many times that the dvd crapped out and stopped working so I had to buy it again.I watched it just a couple hours ago and nostalgia set in. It was a simpler time, when Adam Sandler was funny, Judd Nelson fresh of his 1986's Transformers: the movie run (that's really all i know of him) and when Brendan Fraser was... well, still relevant. It saddens me a bit, because these were once three Hollywood juggernauts, now Fraser has been left to the wayside, Nelson is dead (he's not dead, seriously, I know nothing about this human being) and Sandler is just... overpaid and is hurts me so. So many ups to this movie and their careers that it makes me wonder just how Hollywood works. It's a pretty basic movie about three metalhead jack offs (Fraser, Sandler and Buscemi) who want to get their band's demo played so badly, but they don't know what to do. So they do the only logical choice, decide to break into a radio station and force them to play their record at gun point. There's the rub though, the guns are filled with pepper sauce and not ammo, so they're really just holding people with realistic toys.I laughed out loud multiple times, head banged to some music, and really thought that Fraser DID write that song for his girl, even though he wrote it before he even met her. The song, which went triple platinum is now on youtube, just look up "The Lone Rangers - Degenerated" and you'll find it. But wait, there's three of them, they're not exactly lone, shouldn't they be the Three Rangers? God, it's still funny to this day.The acting is done very well, certainly considering Fraser was known for, despite Encino Man, being a very good actor, Hudson and Ramis were in one of the best, if not the best, horror-comedies of all time, Farley and Sandler were literally two of the funniest men alive, Michael McKean was in This is Spinal Tap, Michael Richards was on top of the world as Cosmo Kramer and Judd Nelson went to Juilliard (I could look up what he's actually done, but outside of this, Transformers and his role of John Bender in The Breakfast Club does anyone really care? Let's just say he went to Juilliard)The music is mid 80's, early 90's grunge, rock and hair metal, so a whole bunch of dudes with long hair and weird Satan type goatee's. Van Halen, White Zombie, Motorhead and morethe pacing is done very well also, it's about three doofus'.... is there a plural of doofus? Doofi? No, doofus' it is. It's about three doofus' and their point of views, so it's paced quickly, but doesn't jump stupidly. Really happy with that as many movies from the 90's are paced poorly and have so many awkward jumps as long movies weren't in at the time and we needed scene cuts. This movie, as I said earlier, is in my top 20 movies of all time and may very well be my favourite comedy ever. I know it's not necessarily the funniest movie ever, and certainly not the best made movie, but the nostalgia and acting talent behind this entire movie just hits me in the right spot constantly. I highly recommend it to everyone if you're looking for a movie to watch. It also saddens me a bit as Lemmy Kilmister passed away and he was in this movie (he's the guy who yells out that he was editor of the school magazine, which is a fact, he has said so himself), but as the movie says, Lemmy couldn't beat up God in a fight because Lemmy is God, so we're all good. Thanks for reading guys and I'll post another article of an old favourite soon.
