The world lost a surprisingly huge actor this week. I don't mean that to be rude or anything as he was a little person, but Kenny Baker did so many more things for acting than a lot of people will give him credit for. Aside from being the number one money earning little person in history (R2-D2 made some green), he paved the way for a lot of amazing actors. Size wise or not, he was very important and I am very sad he's gone. I did a marathon for you today that I hope helps people see the talent he had:Circus of Horror (1960): A British horror movie about a surgeon who uses a circus as a front for his corrupt procedures. Minutes left in the Day: 1,353Star Wars (1977): Later renamed "Episode IV: A New Hope", this is the first of many movies that paved the way for a lot of science fiction movies and began a lot of careers. A chunk of the movie was taken from a Japanese movie called the Hidden Fortess. Minutes left in the Day: 1,232Flash Gordon (1980): A really fun space opera about a human who is taken from Earth to save Earth from space emperor who wants to destroy the Earth. Love this movie and has Queen sing the title song! Minutes left in the Day: 1,118The Elephant Man (1980): A sad drama about a man who is trying to live a normal life after leaving a freak show. Has one of the most famous line in movie history of "I am not an animal, I am a man!" Really depressing, but a good movie. Minutes left in the Day: 994Time Bandits (1981): A really weird Terry Gilliam movie about a kid who's whisked away into the world of fantasy. Also weird to see Sean Connery in a movie that isn't James Bond. John Cleese is in it and he's the man. Minutes left in the Day: 881Amadeus (1984): A long movie about Salieri confessing to his murder of Mozart, this movie was nominated for 53 awards and won 40. Wow. Minutes left in the Day: 720Labyrinth (1986): Fantasy meets comedy meets children movie in this tale about a hot, young Jennifer Connelly (not to be confused with hot, older Jennifer Connelly) who travels a mystical world to find her younger brother who was kidnapped by the Goblin King, played by David Bowie. Minutes left in the Day: 618Willow (1988): Warwick Davis plays Willow, a Nelwyn who has to save a baby from being killed before she can save the world. I love this movie, Val Kilmer slays it so much it's not even funny... but also very funny. Minutes left in the Day: 492Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999): The start of the prequel trilogy has a young Obi-wan Kenobi find an even younger Anakin Skywalker and brings him in to bring balance to the force. Aside from a super unnecessarily long pod race scene, this is a pretty fun movie. The Duel of Fates is a stellar tune as well. Minutes left in the Day: 359The King and I (1999): An animated retelling of the classic tale about the ruler of Siam and a sassy English bitch. Also, a plot to overthrow the throne! Minutes left in the Day: 26924 hour Party People (2002): A fun movie about the music industry spanning from 1972-1996. Pretty fun scaling through the years about punk rock and things. Minutes left in the Day: 152Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015): The start of a third trilogy, we sadly will not be able to see him perform one of the only roles that exists in the entire series. Minutes left in the Day: 16 Rest in Peace Mr. Baker.
