I love cheesy movies. I also love movies that are well done, so when I hear that a Cameron Crowe movie is coming out I get excited, because he is the epitome of cheese and talent. Some people don't like his work, he was ostracized for a choice he made in a recent movie of his, Aloha, but I think he has given the world an abundance of great works and I think people should watch his movies. Because of this I chose to do a marathon for him today. Let us begin: Fast times at Ridgemont High (1982): The start of some pretty impressive careers including Sean penn and Forest Whitaker, Crowe stormed onto the scene and made a classic high school movie and comedy in one fell swoop. Minutes left in the Day: 1350Say Anything... (1989): A great romance drama movie starring John Cusack and Ione Skye (admittedly, she didn't do as well as Mr. Cusack, but still), has one of the best scenes ever where you see Lloyd Dobler holding up a boom box in the rain in an attempt to serenade his love. Minutes left in the Day: 1250Singles (1992): An interesting character study about a group of twenty somethings trying to survive in this crazy world. Minutes left in the Day: 1151Jerry Maguire (1996): Tom Cruise lights up the title role. Put Cameron Crowe on the "A" list map. Show me the money indeed. Minutes left in the Day: 1012Almost Famous (2000): A great movie about a young reporter who becomes friends with a band on tour and they all learn lessons from each other. Billy Crudup rocks the role and the soundtrack is amazing. Minutes left in the Day: 890Vanilla Sky (2001): Another Tom Cruise collaboration has Cruise being a rich guy who gets into a car accident that may or may not have been caused by a jilted ex lover. Minutes left in the Day: 753Elizabethtown (2005): A really fun movie that involved Orlando Bloom post Lord of the Rings as a down on his luck shoe designer that takes a trip back home and falls in love all over again. Also has Kirsten Dunst, who I love. Minutes left in the Day: 630We bought a Zoo (2011): Matt Damon fronts this movie about... well, a guy that bought a zoo. Fun and quirky show. Minutes left in the Day: 506Aloha (2015): An interesting, albeit not great movie starring Bradley Cooper and has Emma Stone playing a half Hawaiin, half Asian Hybrid. The aforementioned mistake he made that has people in an uproar still. Not a bad movie though. Minutes left in the Day: 401So while a lot of time left in the day, the movies are pretty good. A lot of movies that had a lot of impact on the movie universe.
